The Brandywine Valley Symphony (BVS) begins its 85th season with a new name and a proud legacy of delivering authentic experiences to audiences in the Philadelphia suburbs, Main Line, and Chester County

Formerly known as the Kennett Symphony, the BVS's 2025-2026 season features several dynamic performances:

  • One salon concert with food and spirits
  • Three full-orchestra Masterworks concerts
  • Three chamber music performances celebrating brass, woodwind, and string ensembles

This season, BVS audiences can anticipate acclaimed soloists, favorite classics, and inspiring new works that capture the symphony's history and longstanding presence in the Brandywine Valley region.

“Our orchestra continues to thrive, deepening its artistic excellence while strengthening connections throughout the Brandywine Valley,” said Michael Hall, artistic director, in a media release. “This season honors the great symphonic tradition while embracing new perspectives and innovative experiences. From the intimacy of chamber concerts to the grandeur of our season finale beneath the stars at Longwood Gardens, we welcome audiences of all ages to experience the power, beauty, and inspiration of live orchestral music.”

The season begins with a garden party, The Classics at Brantwyn, on Sunday, Oct. 5, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Wilmington, Delaware. This fundraising event on the grounds of a former du Pont family residence will include a display of automobiles from the early 20th century to the present, Grand Parade, and driver introductions. Guests  will have access to a gourmet brunch catered by the DuPont Country Club, an open bar, and live music by the Klinefelter Quartet, culminating in the presentation of the People's Choice Best of Show Award.

The first concert of the season is Masterworks 1: Where the River Meets the Sky on Sunday, Oct. 12, at 3 p.m. in the Duffy Arts Center of the Malvern Prep. The program features West Chester native Samuel Barber's Essay No. 1, Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor with guest pianist Anna Shelest, and Robert Schumann's Symphony No. 3 “Rhenish.”

On Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025, at 3 p.m., the Salon Concert will be presented in the Grand Ballroom of Mendenhall Inn in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. It will feature Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings, light appetizers, and drinks. The performance is hosted by Michael Hall with stories, musical numbers, and multimedia projections.

Details about these and more upcoming season performances are available on the symphony's website.
