To begin its 2025-2026 season, the Immaculata Symphony will host a free outdoor concert, "The Great Outdoors," on Sunday, Sept. 28, at 3 p.m. on the Back Campus of Immaculata University at 1145 West King Road in Malvern. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors to the Alumnae Hall Theater.

The concert will feature works such as Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music, Franz von Suppé's Light Cavalry Overture, a piece by Johann Strauss II titled Tales from the Vienna Woods, and Alexander Borodin's In the Steppes of Central Asia.

Dr. Joseph Gehring, who has served as music director since 2011 and has been involved with the Symphony since 2004, will conduct the concert. In addition to his service to the Immaculata Symphony, Gehring contributes to other local musical groups, including the West Chester Band and Chesco Pops Orchestra, according to MyChesCo.

While the outdoor concert is free to attend, donations will be accepted for the Symphony's programs and future performances. The Immaculata Symphony is a longstanding university-community organization that traces its roots to 1920. It is known for its high-quality performances and cultural contributions to the community.
