Philly Fashion Week Celebrates 20th Anniversary With Gala, Runway Shows

Philly Fashion Week is marking its 20th anniversary with a six-day celebration from Tuesday, Sept. 16, to Sunday, Sept. 21, at the historic Strawbridge department store at 801 Market St. The event will feature runway shows, industry panels, a gala, and an awards ceremony.

According to PhillyVoice, the event lineup includes 51 designers, such as Bishme Cromartie, Prajje Oscar, and the Made Institute Runway Show. Attendees will be able to shop the looks directly from the runway during special activation events on Friday and Saturday evening.

Prominent fashion figures will join the festivities, including Fern Mallis, creator of New York Fashion Week, and Corey Smith, head of diversity and inclusion at LVMH.

The inaugural Philadelphia Fashion Awards will take place on Thursday evening, Sept. 18, honoring designers and creatives who are defining the industry. Honorees include Milan Harris of Milano De Rouge, celebrity stylist Mickey Freeman, Rachel Ford of Made Institute, celebrity makeup artist Rodney Jon, and sustainability leaders Leslie Davidson and Rachel Higgins of PA Fibershed.

Below are some highlights of the many activities planned for Philly Fashion Week.

  • Sept. 17: VIP Dinner & Wine Tasting, 6 p.m.
  • Sept. 18: Avant-Garde Ball and Philadelphia Fashion Awards, 7 p.m.
  • Sept. 19: Runway I + Shop the Runway, 7 p.m.
  • Sept. 20: Business of Fashion Panel, 5 p.m.; Runway II + Shop the Runway, 7 p.m.
  • Sept. 21: Style Gala & 20-Year Celebration, 6 p.m.
