September
- The Northwood Civic Association's Cena En Blanc event on Saturday, Sept. 20, invites attendees to wear white from head to toe, along with a shade of blue, to support 15th district police officers. Individuals should bring their own tables (with a festive white centerpiece featuring a touch of blue), chairs, tablecloth, decorations, picnic-style food, and beverages to Northwood Park at 4701 Castor Ave. Tickets are $20. - Maternity BVM Seniors are planning a trip to the Sight and Sound Theater's production of Noah on Thursday, Sept. 25, along with upcoming visits to Myrtle Beach in October and a Tropicana – Blockbuster Broadway in November. - The Classroom Thrift Shop at 4301 Tyson Ave. will reopen on Thursday, Sept. 25, after the religious holiday closures on Tuesday, Sept. 23, and Wednesday, Sept. 24. Services will be held in the sanctuary on Sept. 23 and 24, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Evening services will be held on Zoom.
October
- The Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia will sponsor a free history program. "The Poquessing: Discover Philadelphia's Forgotten Creek" will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4 (rain date Oct. 11), from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., in the parking area at the playground ball fields at 3155 Mechanicsville Road in Parkwood. The event is free, but advance registration is required on the Alliance's website.
- Fox Chase Cancer Center will offer mobile mammography screenings on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Rep. Jared Solomon's district office, located at 6434 Castor Ave. To schedule an appointment, email mobilescreening@FCCC.edu.
- The Villages at Pine Valley will host a community yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 18, with a rain date set for Sunday, Oct. 19. The community address is 900 Pine Valley Blvd. (between Verree Road and Pine Road).

- Holy Innocents will hold a Christmas casino trip to the Tropicana on Thursday, Dec. 4. A bus will depart from L Street and Hunting Park Avenue at 10 a.m. The cost is $125 and includes transportation, a $25 slot play, a ticket to Dance to the Holidays at 3:30 p.m., and a full hot and cold buffet.
