Ocean City, New Jersey, has approved a $4.25 million contract to reconstruct its iconic boardwalk from St. Charles Place to Fifth Street, with a target completion date of April 2026.
The project, to be carried out by L. Feriozzi Concrete Company, will include replacing timber, concrete, and railings, along with other improvements to enhance the boardwalk's durability and aesthetics.
However, not every individual on Ocean City's Council is happy with the plan.
According to The Patch of Ocean City, Councilman Jody Levchuk expressed concerns about the materials being used, advocating for more durable wood options or alternative materials. He did not specify which materials he preferred.
Levchuk suggested tabling the resolution, but it nonetheless passed the Council with a 6-1 vote.
Due to tight scheduling, changes to the selected materials for the boardwalk are unlikely at this stage. However, Council President Terry Crowley Jr. stated that a change order for the contract could be considered for the future, pending its approval.
