Wawa is opening a next-generation store in Pennsville, Salem County, New Jersey, on Thursday, Sept. 25. The new Wawa will be the first of its type in South Jersey.
The Pennsville Wawa will be situated in the Cranberry Plaza at 230 S. Broadway, a site that has been redeveloped as part of the plaza's revitalization.
Wawa is relocating its store from its previous location at Broadway and Carroll, which will close once the new store location opens.
According to 42Freeway.com, the new Wawa will feature a modern exterior with a defined centered entry, V-shaped columns, and a cantilever roof canopy. Additionally, the exterior will also feature “three carved graphics highlighting hoagies, coffee, and a slogan ‘Happiness Built to Order.'”
As noted in a previous Wawa news release, the interior of the store will feature a bright, airy atmosphere with large windows and modern materials, all designed to showcase Wawa's built-to-order beverages and food.
“This new design is the next important step in our continued store evolution journey,” said Michelle Walsh, director of new store design at Wawa, in a statement. “It reflects our current ‘best thinking' for design and efficiency, showcasing our expanding off-premise offers, built-to-order beverages, and pizza.”
According to 42Freeway.com, the grand opening is expected to include a celebration with local officials and a hoagie-making competition, similar to previous Wawa store launches. However, no official announcement on the grand-opening details has been made yet.
