The Cherry Hill Police Department (CHPD) has issued a warning about scammers impersonating officers via phone and text. CHPD authorities confirmed on Tuesday, Oct. 14, multiple occurrences of fraudulent communications from scammers claiming to be police officers and trying to obtain personal information from people.

Cherry Hill Police officials emphasize that they will never ask for personal or financial information over the phone or send unsolicited links.

"If you believe you have been a victim of this scam, please do not give the individual any of your personal or financial information," the CHPD shared with the Patch of Cherry Hill. "Simply hang up, do not click on any links, and call our non-emergency line at 856-665-1200."

Residents are also advised to directly dial the police department's verified number above instead of calling back suspicious or scam numbers.

Cherry Hill Police Department officials have thanked residents who have already reported suspicious calls, stating that early reports have helped alert the wider Cherry Hill community.

Investigators continue to monitor for suspicious activity and are working with telecommunications providers to trace the fraudulent calls.
