If you’ve ever dreamed of being part of a Hollywood movie, now’s your chance, right here in Philadelphia. Apple Original Films’ upcoming project “Cheesesteak” is holding a local casting call in Philadelphia for extras to appear in a basketball game scene on Sunday, November 9.

The production is offering local talent the opportunity to be part of movie magic, no acting experience required. Background participants will play cheering fans in the stands and will be paid $17.50 per hour, up to $140 for the full shoot. The casting call is open to anyone ages 18 and older, and extras who allow the production to use their car may earn a little extra cash for their vehicle’s cameo appearance.

“Cheesesteak” is directed by Stephen Chbosky, best known for writing and directing The Perks of Being a Wallflower. However, the film may actually be a code name for the sports dramedy “Weekend Warriors,” a U.S. remake of the 2023 German hit Weekend Rebels. The story follows a father and his autistic son who bond over sports, and this American adaptation, produced by LeBron James and starring Mark Wahlberg, is expected to trade European soccer for basketball, bringing the heartfelt story closer to home.

Filming for “Weekend Warriors” has already taken place in Massachusetts and will now bring the action and the energy to Philly. So if you’ve got team spirit, enthusiasm, and a few free hours on November 9, grab your seat (and your cheer) for this exciting moment in Philadelphia film history.

Apply now and help give “Cheesesteak,” or whatever it is called, its hometown flavor.
