Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro is set to release his first book, “Where We Keep the Light: Stories From a Life of Service,” on January 27, 2026. According to 6abc, the memoir will pull back the curtain on the governor’s personal life and career, weaving together powerful stories about his upbringing, his family, and his deep belief in public service.
Published by Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, the memoir offers insight into Shapiro’s work ethic and his approach to leadership. The announcement states that the book will reflect on lessons learned “knocking on doors, serving his community, and bringing people together to tackle tough problems.”
Shapiro, 52, has become one of the most recognized names in American politics since his election as Pennsylvania’s governor in 2022. As reports note, he was even mentioned on Vice President Kamala Harris’ shortlist for running mate last year, and many analysts consider him a strong contender for the 2028 presidential race.
The memoir also revisits a deeply personal moment from earlier this year, when an arsonist set fire to the governor’s mansion while Shapiro and his family were asleep inside. According to 6abc, the family escaped unharmed thanks to state police intervention, and the event prompted increased security measures at the residence.
According to HarperCollins, Where We Keep the Light will feature a collection of personal stories spanning Shapiro’s early career, his time in public office, and his experiences balancing family life with leadership responsibilities. The book is available for preorder ahead of its January 2026 release.
