Only one opportunity remains this month to take part in the Betsy Ross House's Bloodletting and Burials Tour and Spooky Self-Guided House Tour on Saturday, Oct. 25. The tour will give guests the chance to experience gruesome details about life in the 18th century.

The tour begins in the courtyard of the Betsy Ross House at 239 Arch St., which is also her final resting place. It features stories about 18th-century medical practices and deadly diseases.

As guests hear stories about suspect medical treatments in Colonial Philadelphia, they can get a drink at the Triple Bottom Brewing Pop Up beer garden.

Participants will then visit the Christ Church Burial Ground to learn about smallpox and its impact on colonial America and the Continental Army. The tour also covers the 1793 Yellow Fever epidemic at the Arch Street Meetinghouse, emphasizing its devastating effect on Philadelphia's population.

After exploring the historical sites, visitors return to the Betsy Ross House for a self-guided twilight tour. There, a Betsy Ross living historian will be depicted working on a coffin lining instead of sewing a flag.

Designed to be educational, spooky, and fun, the experience ensures that all stories are verified as accurate, presented in a unique historical perspective tied to Halloween hauntings, according to Action News 6.
