Starting Nov. 3 and continuing through Nov. 28, PennDOT will implement nightly lane closures on southbound I-95 approaching the Cottman Avenue interchange in Northeast Philadelphia from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each weeknight to facilitate roadway repairs and barrier improvements.

Construction activities are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled if weather conditions are unfavorable.

According to PhillyVoice, PennDOT is working on several multi-phase projects to reconstruct or improve I-95.

While PennDOT has begun planning renovations for a six-mile stretch of I-95 between Spring Garden Street and the Girard Point Bridge, it is focusing on the eight miles of highway between I-676 and Cottman Avenue.

The upcoming lane closures will support the final portion of the Cottman Avenue Interchange project, which includes adding a new on-ramp and retaining wall to enhance traffic flow and safety.

In early summer, PennDOT crews closed I-95 between I-676 and the Columbus Boulevard on-ramp at Morris and Water streets for the Park at Penn's Landing project. The Lombard Circle ramp onto I-95 will be closed for the next two years as part of continued work in this area.
