On Halloween, Oct. 31, Rea's Farm at 400 Stevens St. in West Cape May, New Jersey, will host a festive event from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring classic American tales, performances, and family-friendly activities.
The Big Red Barn on the property will be decorated for the occasion. Admission to the event is free. Guests are encouraged to come in costume in celebration of Halloween.
Hayrides, a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, and farmers market vendors will include Obscura Brewery, Rita's, Nonna Lisa, Gigi's House, Exit 000 Skincare, Nauti Spirits, and more. Modestly priced dinners will be available, and bottles of wine from Cape May Winery will be available for purchase.
The highlight of the evening will be performances of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. This program is organized by Classic American Tales, led by Artistic Director Gayle Stahlhuth. The seasoned actress, director, playwright, and storyteller is recognized for her work with East Lynne Theater Company and her touring performances.
According to New Jersey Stage, during her time at the helm of the East Lynne Theater Company, Stahlhuth created "Poe by Candlelight" performances that feature readings of Poe's stories alongside seasonal treats.
