Philadelphia is set to host its 11th annual Veterans Parade and Festival on Sunday, Nov. 9, along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, honoring veterans and active-duty service members.
The parade will begin at noon and proceed to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. A free festival will follow at Eakins Oval from noon to 4 p.m., featuring food trucks, live music, family activities, and informational booths.
According to PhillyVoice, the event is expected to attract more than 7,000 participants and spectators. It will also feature more than 150 organizations, including veterans' groups, marching bands, and community organizations. The event is one of the largest tributes for veterans in the region.
This year's grand marshal is Ralph Galati, a distinguished U.S. Air Force veteran, former POW, and advocate for veterans' education and transition programs. Galati is recognized for his bravery and leadership that earned him the Silver Star, Bronze Star with Valor, Purple Heart, and Prisoner of War Medal.
The parade and festival are free and open to the public. Parade participant registration has closed, but all are welcome to attend. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, dress for the weather, and use public transportation, as several roads along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway will be closed during the parade.
