Ocean City, New Jersey, is kicking off a busy end of the year with events spotlighting shopping, veterans, and holiday celebrations

  • The rescheduled Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk will take place on Sunday, Nov. 9, at the Ocean City Civic Center. It will feature music, dancing, a survivor program, and a Boardwalk walk.
  • Ocean City will observe Veterans Day with a program at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Ocean City Tabernacle.
  • The Cape May County Health Department will host a Community Care Day from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, offering screenings for cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure.
  • The winter and holiday shopping season will open with the Winterfest by the Sea Holiday Shopping Extravaganza on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Ocean City Civic Center and the Earlier Than the Bird Downtown Shopping Extravaganza on Saturday, Nov. 22, along Asbury Avenue.
  • Free horse-drawn carriage rides will run noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, and will continue on weekends into December, including Nov. 28–30. Boarding for the rides is at Sixth Street and Asbury Avenue.
  • The Ocean City Humane Society's annual Fast & Furriest 5K Turkey Trot is set for Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 27, on the Ocean City Boardwalk. For more information and registration details, call 609-398-9500, ext. 4, or visit hsocnj.org.
  • Christmas in the Downtown – “Our Miracle on Asbury Avenue” will give the public a chance to celebrate “Black Friday” Ocean City-style from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28.
  • The Ocean City Pops Holiday Show, conducted by Vince Lee with the Festival Chorus, is set for 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Ocean City Music Pier. Tickets can be purchased online, by visiting any Welcome Center, or by calling 609-399-6111.
  • Santa Claus will visit with children and be available for photos on weekends starting Nov. 29 and 30. He will be downtown at Mark Soifer Park (Ninth Street and Asbury Avenue) from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., then outside the Music Pier in a lifeguard boat from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
