The New Jersey Department of Education has honored 11 schools with the 2025 New Jersey Blue Ribbon Schools Award. The award recognizes institutions that demonstrate either exceptional academic performance or substantial progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups.
Nine public schools and two nonpublic schools across eight counties were honored this year. Officials announced during the New Jersey State Board of Education meeting that they praised recipients for setting a statewide standard of excellence.
The 2025 New Jersey Blue Ribbon Public School recipients are as follows:
- Bergen County Technical High School in Teterboro, Bergen County
- Hatikvah International Academy Charter School in East Brunswick, Middlesex County
- Indian Hill School in Holmdel, Monmouth County
- Liberty High School in Jersey City, Hudson County
- Littlebrook School in Princeton, Mercer County
- Mansion Avenue School in Audubon, Camden County
- Ridgewood Avenue School in Glen Ridge, Essex County
- Roosevelt School in Lodi, Bergen County
- Ventnor Elementary School in Ventnor City, Atlantic County
Two nonpublic schools were named as honorees:
- Our Lady of Czestochowa School in Jersey City, Hudson County
- The Elisabeth Morrow School in Englewood, Bergen County
According to Morristown Minute, the award program persists at the state level even after the federal Department of Education ended its nationwide Blue Ribbon program in August 2025. This year's recognitions took place before the federal program ended and adhered to the same selection criteria that previously existed.
All New Jersey public schools were automatically considered for recognition, based on achievement data. The Council of American Private Education (CAPE) submitted nominations for private schools.
“New Jersey's 2025 Blue Ribbon Schools demonstrate what is possible when educators, students, and communities work together to support academic growth and opportunity for all learners,” said Education Commissioner Kevin Dehmer in a statement shared with the Morristown Minute.
