The Transportation Management Association of Chester County (TMACC)'s ChescoBus is joining Modeshift's Pennsylvania network as the 11th agency in the state to adopt a fully integrated digital fare collection system. This new system launched on Monday, Nov. 10.
Modeshift's account-based fare collection enables real-time data, quicker boarding with contactless payments, and reduced reliance on cash fares and paper tickets. Smart cards will incorporate Spanish-language accessibility to improve rider equity and inclusive access.
“This partnership marks an exciting step toward modernizing our ChescoBus operations,” said Tim Phelps, executive director of TMACC, to MyChesCo. “By adopting Modeshift's platform, we're making it easier for our SCCOOT and Coatesville Link riders to plan trips, pay fares, and stay connected, all while improving the efficiency of our system behind the scenes.”
According to Modeshift, the new digital fare system offers the following benefits:
- Mobile ticketing enables passengers to plan, purchase, and validate trips using their smartphones via TMACC's free app, available for iOS and Android devices.
- Reloadable fare cards offer a convenient, cashless payment option for those without mobile devices.
- Riders can plan trips, purchase fares, and manage accounts from any internet-connected device.
- Personalized rider profiles enable users to manage routes, view their fare purchase history, and reload passes.
- TMACC will gain access to real-time data to optimize routes and improve rider service planning.
“With TMACC joining our growing network of Pennsylvania transit partners, we're proud to help Chester County advance its mission of delivering safe, sustainable, and inclusive mobility,” said Miroslav Katsarov, CEO of Modeshift, in a statement shared with MyChesCo. “Our platform is designed to help agencies like TMACC modernize quickly while giving riders a seamless and connected experience.”
