During the weekend of Nov. 8-9, volunteers hung lighted wreaths donated by Discover Doylestown and Doylestown Borough throughout the town. Renee Guarro of New Britain was one of several individuals taking part in the festive decorating efforts as she hung wreaths along Court Street across from the Bucks County Administration building.
“We're just helping out and showing our pride in the town,” said Guarro in a statement shared with the Patch of Doylestown.
Santa Parade and Tree Lighting
The wreath hanging heralds a busy holiday season ahead for Doylestown, highlighted by the town's tree lighting and Santa Parade on Friday, Nov. 28, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event features a 25-foot Nordmann fir decorated with 150 ornaments and thousands of lights.
Santa Claus will be brought into town via the Santa Parade, complete with bands and cheerleaders, that concludes at the Justice Center area, where Santa lights the tree.
This year, parade attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food donations for the New Britain Food Pantry. Fred Beans and Bike Works will provide a box truck for the food collection.
Beginning at 5 p.m., the Doylestown Dart will run free shuttles from the parking garage to the tree lighting ceremony.
Small Business Saturday and Ugly Sweater Walk
Small Business Saturday on Saturday, Nov. 29, will showcase special sales across dozens of locally owned shops.
A new addition to Doylestown's holiday festivities is an Ugly Sweater Walk, scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 7, starting at noon.
Additional holiday-themed events include Santa's Cottage, a Christmas Holiday House Tour and Tea, a Festival of Christmas Music, and a Hanukkah celebration.
