Avelo Airlines has announced that it will begin offering new nonstop flights from Delaware to Atlanta and Chicago starting in 2026.

The new nonstop routes will be provided from Wilmington Airport (ILG) to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport (ORD) and to Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).

According to NBC 10 Philadelphia, flights to ORD in Illinois will begin on March 12, 2026, with four flights per week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Flights to ATL in Georgia will start on Feb. 12, 2026, with five flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

The nonstop flight offerings add to Avelo's existing nonstop flight services from ILG to the following destinations:

  • Fort Lauderdale, Florida (FLL)
  • Fort Myers, Florida (RSW)
  • Jacksonville, Florida (JAX)
  • Lakeland/Orlando, Florida (LAL)
  • Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (MYR)
  • Nashville, Tennessee (BNA)
  • Orlando, Florida (MCO)
  • Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina (RDU)
  • San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU)
  • Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida (SRQ)
  • Tampa, Florida (TPA)
  • West Palm Beach, Florida (PBI)
  • Wilmington, North Carolina (ILM)

According to the Delaware News JournalAvelo Airlines is the only commercial airline operating out of Wilmington Airport.

Since the airline began serving Wilmington Airport in 2023, near New Castle, it has flown more than 750,000 passengers on over 5,500 flights, according to Avelo. The airline will also be introducing a new Boeing 737 aircraft to its fleet beginning in March 2026.

According to a Travel and Tour World news report, Avelo's flight expansion is part of Avelo's broader network growth strategy. Over the past several years, Avelo has focused on connecting small and mid-sized cities to large metropolitan hubs. The new set of routes in Wilmington continues this trend. By offering nonstop service from smaller airports, Avelo officials said in a news release that they aim to give travelers more choices and the opportunity to fly more affordably and conveniently.
