The Newtown Theatre has unveiled a dynamic December entertainment lineup featuring 10 holiday concerts. Here's what's coming up this season:
- Wednesday, Dec. 10, 3 p.m.: “The Ultimate Christmas Party Concert with the Sassies” features favorite holiday songs performed by the multigenerational Sassies: Kate Nice, Cait Dailey, and Peg Keller.
- Thursday, Dec. 11, 8 p.m.: “Christmas Unplugged” delivers a specially assembled group of singers and musicians performing acoustic versions of everyone's favorite Christmas songs. The concert will be lit by hundreds of white lanterns placed throughout the theatre. Attendees can enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and cookies from The Newtown Hardware House.
- Friday, Dec. 12, 8 p.m.: “Holiday Dueling Pianos” combines the artistry of husband and wife pianists Steve and Jenni Luhmann performing sing-along holiday tunes.
- Saturday, Dec. 13, 2 p.m.: Celebrated as the nation's No. 1 tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Lights Out sings all of Valli's hits and holiday classics in “A Very Valli Holiday.”
- Tuesday, Dec. 16, 7:30 p.m.: The fifth annual “Illuminated Classical Christmas Concert” brings together musicians with the Newtown Chamber Orchestra playing classical works and beloved holiday songs.
- Wednesday, Dec. 17, 3 p.m.: Nova Scotian sisters Cassie and Maggie will perform traditional and contemporary Celtic instrumentals and vocal numbers in “A Celtic Christmas” celebration.
- Friday, Dec. 19, 8 p.m.: Platinum-selling recording artist Chris Pinnella (formerly of Trans-Siberian Orchestra) unites with his 12-piece orchestra to celebrate the season with Christmas classics and holiday hits.
- Saturday, Dec. 20, 8 p.m.: “A Motown Holiday with York Street Hustle” combines the music of Motown and Stax holiday classics, '60s soul hits, and B-sides by Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, Otis Redding, Al Green, Gladys Knight, and others.
- Tuesday, Dec. 23, 8 p.m.: The Slambovian Circus of Dreams' music has been described as “psychedelic folk Americana with an Alice in Wonderland vibe.” The third annual “Very Slambovian Christmas” offers unique twists on traditional seasonal tunes.
- Saturday, Dec. 27, 8 p.m.: This concert, “The Golden Age of Broadway,” will feature songs from hit shows ranging from My Fair Lady to Hello, Dolly, and more. Accompanying the performers on piano will be Dan Micciche, conductor of the Broadway musical Wicked.
