Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams Recalls Bars Due to Allergen

Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams has recalled a batch of Passion Fruit Dreamsicle Ice Cream Bars because they may contain soy and wheat ingredients not listed on the product label.

One lot of the company's Passion Fruit Dreamsicle Ice Cream Bars was recalled “after a crunch topping from a separate product was inadvertently introduced to this particular batch” during manufacturing, company officials noted. The crunch topping, Jeni's said, includes wheat and soy not listed as an ingredient in the Passion Fruit Dreamsicle bars, according to a company announcement with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy and/or wheat run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products,” the FDA alert stated. As of Friday, Nov. 21, no injuries or illnesses have been reported.

The affected product lot 25-210 was distributed to grocery stores across the United States. Consumers who purchased the Passion Fruit Dreamsicle Ice Cream Bars can return the ice cream to the place of purchase for a full refund.
