The Philadelphia Art Museum will host “Family Festival: Sweet Dreams” on Sunday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the main building. This experience will provide families with a day of creative activities inspired by the museum's new exhibition “Dreamworld: Surrealism at 100.” Admission is pay-what-you-wish and free for members.

“Dreamworld: Surrealism at 100” is a centennial celebration of surrealist art, organized into six thematic sections. The museum's exhibition features a Philadelphia-specific segment on artists who fled Europe during World War II and continued their work in Mexico and the United States. According to PhillyVoice, “Dreamworld” is the museum's major winter exhibition and serves as the final stop on an international tour organized with the Centre Pompidou, serving as the show's only U.S. venue.

Children's activities connected with the exhibition include dream-themed art in the Art Kids Studio, a sensory-friendly quiet space, and surrealist-inspired games in the Great Stair Hall.

Attendees can also participate in a collaborative portrait project on the Great Stair Hall Balcony led by local artist Devyn Dais. This experience complements The Absurd Word poetry activity, inspired by surrealism, and a psychedelic-themed music performance with coloring and creative stations.
