Kennett to Host 2026 MLK Day Celebration

The 2026 Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration will take place on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, at Kennett High School, as part of America250's nationwide commemorations under the theme “Lift Every Voice, 1776–2026.” The celebration will feature a full program, including the 25th Annual Fellowship Breakfast, the Be A King Volunteer Fair, and participation from local leaders, faith communities, and regional neighbors.

According to The National Law ReviewDr. Karsonya Wise Whitehead, the national president of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), will deliver the keynote address, focusing on race, justice, and civic engagement.

In addition to the main celebration on Jan. 19, Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK Day) commemoration activities include a Change for Change Drive on Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union to support those in need of food and a free film and discussion at Kennett Library on Sunday, Jan. 18, focused on civil rights and community engagement.
