If you're looking for something to do with the family in South Jersey after opening presents on Christmas Day, why not go for a walk? Residents don't have to go far to find a top-rated place in the country to take a Christmas Day walk.
According to Sportsbook Review, the Ocean City Boardwalk in Cape May County, New Jersey, was ranked the top spot in New Jersey and the 21st-best in the country for Christmas Day walks. The Sportsbook Review editorial team praised the location's ocean views, flat walking path, and festive seaside atmosphere.
Mercer County Park Lake Loop in West Windsor finished second among New Jersey Christmas Day walks, recognized for its level, broad paths, and lakeside loop. Saddle River County Park Path in Ridgewood, Bergen County, notched a third-place recognition in New Jersey for Christmas Day walks. Sportsbook Review highlighted the setting's smooth greenway, ample space, gentle grades, and river views.
Sportsbook Review said it surveyed more than 3,000 families to create its list of family-friendly walking destinations across the country. According to the results, families overwhelmingly chose waterfront walks, from coastlines and boardwalks to river paths in landlocked states. Flat, stroller-friendly routes with easy access were more popular than scenic, demanding trails.
Other notable boardwalks mentioned on the national list include Virginia Beach, Ocean Springs, and Hammonasset Beach.
“Christmas Day can be chaotic indoors, but a gentle walk is one of the rare activities that genuinely works for every generation,” James Bission, the editor-in-chief of Sportsbook Review, said in a news release. “These routes stood out because they're beautiful, accessible, and still feel festive — no sweatbands required. It turns out the best way to work off Christmas lunch isn't to play a game of backyard football, but a relaxed family stroll that everyone can enjoy.”
