Viva Philadelphia, indeed. The 2026 Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia Mummers Parade made history with the first-ever live, real wedding right in the middle of the action, and it had everyone brave enough to face the cold feeling “All Shook Up.” It was the kind of storybook moment that felt like the most Philadelphia wedding ever, and maybe the wedding no one realized they wanted to see until it happened.
During Hegeman String Band’s performance, fittingly titled “Viva Las Hegeman,” Juliana Bonilla and Stanley Wells said “I do” in front of the crowds on Broad Street. Captain Kelliann Gallagher even got ordained just for the occasion so she could officially marry the couple live during the parade.
Viva Las Hegeman Goes Full Vegas
Even though unsafe weather conditions forced the postponement of the full String Band competition, Hegeman proved that the show must go on. They performed without some of their larger props, but the surprise wedding finale more than made up for anything missing on stage.
Gallagher shared that the theme was created as a celebration of Americana for the 125th Anniversary of the Mummers Parade. Instead of going fully patriotic, the band leaned into something everyone across the country could relate to: the glitz, fun, and spontaneity of Las Vegas, complete with an Elvis-style wedding moment in the middle of Broad Street.
Meet Juliana: South Philly Mummers Family
- 25 years old and proudly from South Philadelphia.
- Works in home health care and still lives in South Philly.
- Comes from a big Hegeman String Band family: her stepdad John is a member and her mom Evie is Sergeant at Arms.
- Usually helps marshal for the band, but this was her first year actually being in the performance.
- Wore a wedding dress that matched the Vegas theme, complete with classic golden slippers.
Juliana has always been behind the scenes with Hegeman, which made stepping into the spotlight for a parade-day wedding both surreal and a little nerve-wracking. She gets stage fright and was nervous about saying “I do” in front of so many people, but with support from the band, her family, and her fiancé, she pushed through to make it happen.
Meet Stanley: North Philly to South Philly
- 32 years old, originally from North Philadelphia.
- Lives in South Philadelphia with Juliana.
- Works in home health care and also in the airline industry.
- Wore a “mummer-fied” suit, tie, and jacket customized to match the Hegeman theme, plus his own pair of golden slippers.
When the idea of getting married during the parade came up, Stanley immediately said yes. He knew how much the Mummers meant to Juliana and her family and loved the idea of turning their big day into a one-of-a-kind Philly memory.
A Very Philly Love Story
Juliana and Stanley first met in September 2022 through mutual friends on social media. They got engaged on September 10, 2025, and initially had a more traditional venue lined up. When the opportunity to get married during the 2026 Mummers Parade appeared, it was simply too unique and too “Philly” to pass up.
For Juliana, the whole experience still feels “unreal but nervously exciting,” and that emotion showed as she walked into a new year and a new marriage all at once. Surrounded by sequins, saxophones, feathers, and family, this 2026 Mummers Parade wedding proved that in Philadelphia, love and tradition go hand in hand — with just the right amount of Vegas sparkle.
