If you've been following Mare of Easttown on HBO, you may be wondering what's next for the Delco crime drama.

Kate Winslet, one of the series' stars, recently told Deadline that there is a "strong likelihood" production will resume in 2027, foreshadowing a potential second season.

Created by Berwyn native Brad Ingelsby, Mare of Easttown was initially created as a one-season show. In the series, Winslet stars as Mare Sheehan, a Philadelphia police detective who investigates the murder of a teenage mother during the first season of Mare of Easttown.

However, on Thursday, Jan. 8, Deadline reported that discussions about renewing the series came up several months ago during the production of Winslet's Goodbye June, her first feature film as a director.

Winslet told Deadline that next year could be the target for returning production on Mare of Easttown to the Philadelphia area, where the Emmy Award-winning show filmed many of its scenes.

When reached for comment, an HBO spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly"we don't have anything to add" to Winslet's remarks.

This isn't the first time discussions about a second season of Mare of Easttown have surfaced. According to a PhillyVoice reportin June 2024, Francesca Orsi, head of drama at HBO, told Variety that several conversations had arisen about continuing the show.

Mare of Easttown season 1 is available to stream on HBO Max.
