Founders and co-owners Andrew Dana and Daniela Moreira began the bagel business at farmers markets in D.C. in 2018. The inspiration for Call Your Mother comes from Dana's Jewish heritage and Moreira's Argentine background.

In an Instagram post, Dana and Moreira acknowledged Philly institutions like Allen Iverson and Rocky in their special announcement, as well as Dana's Mount Airy native mother.

According to the Call Your Mother website, the bagels are a hybrid between New York-style and Montreal-style, with a balance of sweetness and size. The company offers several bagel schmears, proteins, toppings, coffee, sandwiches, and a pretzel bagel.
