A Philadelphia nonprofit is kicking off the new year with a series of programs linked to America's 250th anniversary commemoration.
The Wardrobe has announced events that bring together community members to learn how they can support or benefit from The Wardrobe's nonprofit clothing and confidence-building services, empowering people on their journey to independence by addressing clothing insecurity.

The Wardrobe's Common Threads Series will cover diverse topics at the following locations:
- March 19: Philadelphia – Women in Fashion
- May 6: Norristown – Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship
- June 11: Exton – Entrepreneurship and Innovation
- Sept. 17: Kennett Square – Community Building
- Nov. 12: Upper Darby – Small Business Ownership
For more than 30 years, The Wardrobe has tackled clothing insecurity and built community sustainability while serving more than 100,000 people in the Greater Philadelphia area. The Wardrobe's support services include one-on-one coaching, resume review, interview preparation, and “threads of independence” workshops, all available every Wednesday.
- Threads of Independence Online Workshop: Held on the second Wednesday of each month from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Acing the Interview Online Workshop: Held on the third Wednesday of each month from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Open Wardrobe (free clothing for specific populations): Held on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at all Wardrobe locations
- One-on-One Coaching: On demand
In addition to providing support services, The Wardrobe also hosts clothing swaps and Sip + Shops to promote sustainable wardrobes on a budget.
The nonprofit operates a high-end resale model across multiple counties to fund programs, with daily new arrivals and discounts of over 70% off retail; the Wardrobe Box program offers seasonal subscriptions or free styling.
According to a MyChesCo report, The Wardrobe locations in Philadelphia, Delaware, Montgomery, and Chester counties offer a high-end resale shopping experience for everyone. New clothing items arrive daily, and customers can find designer and contemporary clothing at more than 70% off retail prices. The organization also offers a Wardrobe Box, a seasonal subscription clothing service for individuals, or a free, personally styled service for participants.
