If you haven't been to Longwood Gardens recently, you're missing a quite spectacular Garden Glow event when the sun goes down.
The Kennett Square public gardens attraction is presenting Garden Glow, an after‑dark light experience running Friday through Sunday through March 8 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
In the West Conservatory, Jennifer Reed's Suspended Dreamscape features a 100‑foot overhead canopy using botanical elements and 500 yards of voile fabric. Inside the Conservatory Music Room, Seeking Light: Bonsai Illuminated features eight yamadori Shimpaku junipers — some between 150 and 380 years old — glowing beneath blacklight.
Outdoors, the Main Fountain Garden's SPARK installation by Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde features thousands of biodegradable sparks floating in the night sky from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. According to MyChesCo, SPARK may pause in temperatures below 25 degrees or during inclement weather, but Garden Glow remains a rain-or-shine experience.
Throughout the evening, illuminated displays in the Radiant Conservatories bring art, design, lighting, and horticulture together for an unforgettable winter experience.
Garden Glow weekends also offer limited evening reservations at Longwood's 1906 restaurant with a special prix‑fixe menu.
Tickets for Garden Glow are $45 for adults ($25 for members) and $25 for youth ages 5 to 18 ($15 for youth of members), with all‑day admission and re‑entry included. For more information, visit the Garden Glow information section on Longwood Gardens' website. Longwood Gardens is at 1001 Longwood Road in Kennett Square.
