The Doylestown Arts Festival is seeking applications from local and regional artists and musicians for its 35th annual event. This 35th anniversary event will unfold as a two-day outdoor event on Sept. 12–13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, along Doylestown's historic streets. The event is free and will be held rain or shine.
Applications are being accepted online through March 27 for artists and musicians. Sponsorship applications close on April 17.
Artist applications carry a $32.50 jury fee and must be submitted by the deadline to be considered. Jury results are typically announced within about three weeks after closing. Booth spaces are $300 for a 10-by-10-foot area with tents and materials supplied by artists, plus an optional overnight booth for an extra $40 after acceptance.
Local Story: Be Kind 5K Returns to Buckingham Township
The festival aims to celebrate arts and culture in the region, with the 35th anniversary anticipated to be among the most vibrant celebrations held in the event's history. It will feature works in ceramics, drawing, fiber, glass, painting, jewelry, metal, sculpture, mixed media, paper and printmaking, photography, and wood, with a focus on original handmade work by independent creators.
The Independence of Bucks County noted that the festival was founded in 1991 by a small volunteer group of businesses and residents. It has grown from a single street fair into a town-wide event attracting an estimated 20,000 to 30,000 attendees each year, weather permitting.
The festival grows each year, and this year's edition will showcase more than 160 juried artists, over 30 live music acts across five stages, interactive demonstrations, a food court, dozens of pop-up events, local business specials, and the Bucks County Classic bike races returning on Sunday, Sept. 13.
According to a Patch of Doylestown report, organizers are also seeking partnerships with local art and cultural institutions to engage the community and visitors, as well as applications for art-based activities to enhance the town-wide experience.
The Doylestown Arts Festival is organized by Discover Doylestown and presented by The Thompson Organization. Opportunities will be available for independent artists, live performers, cultural partners, food vendors, activity hosts, and sponsors to apply.
