During the offseason, South Jersey remains a dynamic destination for experiencing nature activities and exploring local attractions. If you're looking for suggestions for things to do outside the busy summer season, consider the following:

Explore the Cape May County Park & Zoo

Exploring the Cape May County Park & Zoo is a great family outing. The attraction is free and open every day of the year, except Christmas. More than 500 animals representing 250 different species call the zoo home. Cape May County Park and Zoo is located off the Garden State Parkway at exit 11.

Go for a Walk at Cape May Point State Park and Cape May County Park North

In Upper Township, you can take a walk through the Richard M. Cameron Wildlife Sanctuary, open from 7 a.m. to dusk. The setting offers nature trails and the historic Cameron House, built in 1930.

On the southern tip of New Jersey, Cape May Point State Park features the Cape May Lighthouse, whose foundations date back to 1847. The park also offers a plethora of nature trails, bird- and wildlife-viewing areas, and the historic World War II Gun Battery 223.

Visit Local Breweries, Distilleries, and Wineries

Venues such as Slack Tide Brewing Co. in Dennis Township, Gusto Brewing Co. in North Cape May, Cape May Winery and Vineyard, or Hawk Haven Winery and Vineyard in Rio Grande offer opportunities to sip and savor craft brews, spirits, and wines from small-label beverage producers.
