A new study detailing the safest cities in every state in the country has named several suburban Philadelphia communities to the list.
According to Safewise, the safest of the communities in Pennsylvania (PA) is Cecil Township, located in Washington County. This year marks the second year in a row that the township was ranked first in the Safewise study.

Here's a look at the top 10 safest communities in the state, according to Safewise:

- Westtown-East Goshen
- Warwick Township, Bucks County
- Northern Regional
- Franklin Park
- Newtown Township, Bucks County
- Upper Allen Township
- Cranberry Township
- Shaler Township
The Patch of Pennsylvania noted that the rankings are based on FBI crime data, measuring violent and property crime per 1,000 residents. The rankings also take into account specific reporting and population thresholds.
Survey findings show that two-thirds of residents worried about violent crime, and 21% personally experienced violent crime in the past year. Sixty percent were concerned about package theft (up from 47%), and 23% reported a property crime within the last eight months.
According to Safewise, Pennsylvania's violent crime rate stands at 5.72 per 1,000. Property crime has risen from 16.5 to 30.36 per 1,000 year over year. Meanwhile, Pennsylvanians' perceived safety has declined year over year, from 55% to 40%, according to the report.
