Drivers in King of Prussia will need to take a detour over the next several months as a southbound section of Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) closes for sinkhole remediation.
According to CBS Philadelphia, the southbound lanes will be closed until late fall between Henderson Road and Prince Frederick Boulevard in Upper Merion Township. The closure location is approximately two miles from the King of Prussia Mall. Drivers will need to use Saulin Boulevard as the main detour.
A stretch of Route 202 has been shut down several times over the past few years after sinkholes opened on the road. One sinkhole that opened in July 2023 near Henderson Road and Saulin Boulevard shut down Route 202 for two weeks, according to CBS Philadelphia.

PennDOT said crews will drill hundreds of holes in a grid and inject pressurized grout to fill underground voids, addressing decades-long sinkhole issues driven by water infiltration. The corridor sits on soft soil and limestone, making it susceptible to washouts when wet or when pipes fail.
Officials hope this will be the last major shutdown related to sinkhole work on Route 202.
Despite the closure, residents and businesses will retain access to their properties, but impacts to businesses are already being felt.
CBS Philadelphia spoke with Shark Cut, a barbershop in the area, which is already feeling the impact, according to Jamie Dang. "The clients tell us they can't make it here on time, or they get frustrated before, the past couple times, when the road was closed anyway, so it's going to be slow for us," Dang said.
