The Philadelphia Ballet will stage The Merry Widow for the first time at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia from March 5 through March 15.
The plot centers on Hanna, who loves Danilo. After Danilo rejects her, Hanna marries a billionaire, becomes a widow, and returns wealthy, setting in motion a plan to unite Hanna and Danilo to boost the town's wealth.

According to Action News 6 ABC, the production unfolds across three acts — a ballroom scene with 12 couples, a garden party, and a Maxim's-style restaurant sequence — all featuring love triangles and near-escapes.
"Since I became artistic director, I wanted to do this ballet, and finally it's here," said Angel Corella, the artistic director of the Philadelphia Ballet. "It's a very big ballet with, you know, a lot of costumes, great sets, and, of course, a beautiful love story."
