Glen Foerd has opened applications for its 2026 River Ambassadors program. The six-week paid summer opportunity for Philadelphia high school students focuses on environmental education, watershed stewardship, and on-water skill development.
According to The South Philly Review, the program is designed as hands-on learning to raise awareness of the Delaware River Watershed. Activities will include exploring waterways, studying flora and fauna, conducting water-quality testing, and completing an environment-based capstone project, with on-water skills developed through kayaking and rowing.

The 2026 session begins the week of July 6 and runs through the week of Aug. 10. Ambassadors will meet four days a week, Monday through Thursday, for five hours each day.
The program is open to applicants who are rising 10th, 11th, or 12th graders for the 2026–2027 school year. Participants will receive a $1,000 stipend upon program completion.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with limited space available, and interested students are urged to apply promptly. For more information about the River Ambassadors program, email Environmental Program Manager Robert DiTomasso.
