Historic Philadelphia, Inc. is running its "Once Upon A Nation" program in Philly's historic district to bring history to life for America 250 and beyond.

This season, visitors to Philadelphia can encounter two types of presenters who will share stories with guests: history makers who stay in colonial character and storytellers in green shirts and khakis at designated lime-green storytelling benches in the historic district.

According to an Action News 6abc report, the Benstitute trains actors to bring history to life in Philadelphia. The nonprofit has been auditioning actors for living history roles for 30 years now, and this year, their work will take on new meaning during the celebration of America's semiquincentennial (250th anniversary).

Public performances and events are being planned throughout the summer. Details are available in The Historic Philadelphia Gazette, which can be read online or picked up at the Independence Visitor Center.
