A Philadelphia area nonprofit has launched free Community Care Kiosks stocked with baby essentials and hygiene products to help underserved families.

Created by the Maternity Care Coalition, the kiosks offer diapers, wipes, infant formula, and women's hygiene products — necessities that can be expensive for families who are facing financial hardship. For example, formula prices vary by brand, ranging from $28 to $60.

"We just feel like supplying these types of goods to the community allows them to keep money in their pockets like food, and utility bills, and it really helps," said Lonnese Bodison, senior director of programs for the Maternity Care Coalition, in a statement shared with Action News 6abc.

Four kiosks have been installed so far: at Temple University Hospital and in each of Philadelphia's three collar counties. According to 6abc, the locations were selected to help families who may experience challenges traveling to the organization's Kensington headquarters to receive support.

Funding for the initiative comes from AstraZeneca.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially launch the program is scheduled for Monday, March 30, at the Maternity Care Coalition's Bristol site.
