SEPTA has announced that it will replace train service between Bridgeport Station and Norristown Transit Center with shuttle buses from late March to early May. This shift will help SEPTA crews perform critical rehabilitation and structural repairs on the Bridgeport Viaduct of the Norristown High Speed Line.
According to SEPTA, the first phase of this project runs from Sunday, March 29, to Saturday, May 9, with additional major outages planned throughout 2026 and 2027.
These three outage periods include the following:
- March 29–May 9
- Aug. 1–Dec. 19
- Jan. 18, 2027–Feb. 6, 2027
During this project, SEPTA third-party contractors plan to repaint the entire viaduct; replace lacing bars, rivets, bolts, and bearing; replace the concrete deck; and repair the concrete sidewalk at the Norristown Transit Center.
Train service will continue normally between Bridgeport Station and the 69th Street Transit Center. Bus service will be used only on the Bridgeport to Norristown segment, and travelers should expect longer trip times and plan for connections.
Travelers can contact SEPTA customer service at 215-580-7800 Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with questions.
SEPTA riders can obtain real-time information about shuttle bus service during this disruption using the SEPTA trip planner.
