Fiesta Fresh Market, a grocery store in Delaware, is an unlikely place for a concert, but this store's produce aisle serves as center stage for up-and-coming local talent.
People reported that co-owner Jose Aguilar launched the series in 2025, drawing inspiration from NPR's Tiny Desk and leveraging his music industry background and the store's existing setup.
Aguilar told TODAY.com, “When we opened up the grocery store, we were looking for ways to market it, and with me already kind of being in the music scene, it was fairly easy to get bands to come in and do us the favor of playing at the store.”
He soon began posting the performances on Fiesta Fresh Market's social media channels.
Initially, customers were annoyed by the concerts, but attitudes shifted as bigger acts performed, and audiences grew more enthusiastic, leading to increased demand for future events.
“My family has been in both the music and the grocery store business since forever,” he explained. “So it's cool to combine them in this way.”
According to People, the grocery store concert series has taken off on TikTok and YouTube, with videos receiving hundreds of thousands of views.
Aguilar told CBS Philadelphia that the main “idea is to highlight independent artists,” and those artists have been gaining attention from recording industry professionals.
Ilusión, a Mexican American band featured in the series, was contacted by Atlantic Records after their appearance.
Fans of the series and the grocery store can follow both on social media for updates on concert announcements and upcoming performer lineups.
