Several Delaware County (Delco) and Main Line communities were recently named among the nation's "best" places to live, according to new rankings from Niche.
Ardmore, which straddles Delaware and Montgomery counties, ranked highly in Pennsylvania and earned a place in Niche's national top 10. Several Main Line communities, including places within Tredyffrin and Easttown, ranked among the best in the nation.
Niche's 2026 Best Places to Live list evaluated more than 20,000 communities based on schools, cost of living, economic opportunity, and other factors.

Delco Communities
Niche named the following Delco communities to its 2026 Best Places to Live list:
- Ardmore: First in Pennsylvania, seventh in the nation
- Swarthmore: Fifth in Pennsylvania, 28th in the nation
- Rose Valley: 11th in Pennsylvania, 161st in the nation
- Nether Providence Township: 21st in Pennsylvania, 303rd in the nation
According to a Patch of Media report, Ardmore, Swarthmore, Rose Valley, and Nether Providence each received an A-plus ranking from Niche, which graded communities across 12 subcategories.
Main Line Communities
Niche named the following Main Line communities to its 2026 Best Places to Live list:
- Devon: Second in Pennsylvania, eighth in the nation
- Chesterbrook: Fourth in Pennsylvania, 12th in the nation
- Paoli: Seventh in Pennsylvania, 50th in the nation
- Berwyn: 14th in Pennsylvania, 200th in the nation
According to a Patch of Tredyffrin-Easttown report, Devon, Chesterbrook, Paoli, and Berwyn received high marks for schools, housing, jobs, outdoor activities, and quality for families.
Niche's methodology for its rankings blends public data with resident reviews.
"This year's top-ranked places are smaller, walkable communities within major metro areas, giving residents access to jobs, amenities, and transit while maintaining connected neighborhoods," Niche stated in a news release. "Many have populations under 15,000, as demand grows for places that balance urban convenience with neighborhood livability."
