West Chester University will kick off Earth Week with its fourth annual Zero Waste Summit. This event, scheduled for Monday, April 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Sykes Student Union Ballroom, serves as a hub for innovation, education, and community connection to reduce waste and promote sustainable habits.
The Zero Waste Summit, hosted by the WCU Office of Sustainability, is free and open to the public; no registration is required. Snacks will be provided.
According to a Daily Local News report, activities during the summit will include DIY projects and giveaways, a clothing thrift and swap, free lamp repairs from the Downingtown Repair Café, and presentations on campus sustainability, along with insights into campus resources and programs.
Additional activities and surprises, including a visit from RAMMY, will accompany the summit's exploration of sustainability resources.
“Earth Week is the perfect moment to come together and focus on solutions,” said Bradley Flamm, director of the Office of Sustainability at West Chester University, in a statement shared with the Daily Local News. “The Zero Waste Summit is about making sustainability approachable — giving people the tools, ideas, and confidence to take action in their daily lives.”
