Philadelphia is gearing up to host six FIFA World Cup 2026 matches in June and July, including a July 4 Round of 16 match tied to the U.S. 250th anniversary. In advance of the history-making matches, the City of Philadelphia has released several transit and safety guidelines for guests venturing to Philadelphia to take part in FIFA World Cup activities.

Driving

If you're traveling via highways or streets, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's (PennDOT) real-time traffic map on PennDOT's website and social media offers information on current traffic conditions, including road detours and closures.

FIFA Fan Festival

Philadelphia's FIFA Fan Festival will celebrate community, culture, music, and sport. The Fan Festival will be free and open to the public. On match day, fans can enjoy watch parties, food and beverage offerings, world-class entertainment, and more.

Mass Transportation

SEPTA offers bus, regional rail, subway, elevated rail, and trolley service throughout the city and suburbs. SEPTA's website offers schedules, maps, delays, and detours.

The Orange Broad Street Line is the fastest way to get to Lincoln Financial Field, home to Philadelphia Stadium, as it's called for the FIFA World Cup. Attendees will exit at the last southbound stop, AT&T Station, when traveling south to the stadium from Center City, and at the first northbound stop when returning.

Weather Concerns

Given that Philadelphia can experience high heat and humidity during the summer, the City of Philadelphia is working with community partners to create hospitality hubs at key locations along the walking routes to and from City Hall and the FIFA Fan Festival. These areas will provide informational resources, wayfinding materials, shaded areas, refillable water stations, and restrooms.

The City is also managing a digital resource hub to share time-sensitive updates, including heat health guidance, public safety information, and frequently asked questions. A Heat Guide and the Philadelphia Department of Public Health's Breath Philly Dashboard offer additional resources.
